About
The Indian Princesses meeting was very soon. I needed a name: adjective-noun. I leafed through the onion pages of the dictionary with gold indented tabs and saw a line drawing of a wombat. I knew the wombat from my Book of Silly Lists. It had a list of egg-laying mammals (platypus, echidna) and a list of animals with pockets (kangaroo, tasmanian devil, wallaby, wombat).
At the meeting, Mary took the name Fuzzy Bunny. I said I wanted the name Fuzzy Wombat. She glared at me. I was embarrassed. I had wanted to be furry, not fuzzy. I would be
Furry Wombat.
